Summer School in Semiotics, Technology and Society
28 July – 8 August 2025, on-site in Tartu
This interdisciplinary course explores the relationship between technology and society through the lens of semiotics. Students will examine how cultural, environmental, and epistemological discourses intersect with emerging technologies. The course includes practical workshops, methodological training, and cultural excursions.
1st Summer School on HRI–Social Robotics
28 July – 8 August 2025, on-site in Tartu
Focused on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), this course delves into the design and evaluation of socially intelligent robots. Participants will gain hands-on experience with robot platforms, explore the ethics of robot integration, and may even publish a short contribution in an academic venue.
Summer School in Self-driving Cars
28 July – 8 August 2025, on-site in Tartu
Dive into the technology powering autonomous vehicles. This course introduces students to the core principles of self-driving systems using Python and Tartu’s digital twin environment. It includes a demo ride in a self-driving Lexus running student-developed software.
Patient-centred Communication: Based on Motivational Interviewing
4 – 8 August 2025, on-site in Tartu
This course equips students in healthcare, psychology, or social sciences with evidence-based communication skills. Focusing on motivational interviewing, students learn to enhance patient relationships, reduce conflict, and support collaborative decision-making in clinical settings.
Secessionist and Statehood Bids in Times of Crises
28 July – 6 August 2025, on-site in Tartu
Explore secessionist movements, sovereignty, and recognition in contemporary global conflicts. Combining lectures, simulation exercises, and a field trip to Narva, this course provides a rich, comparative insight into international relations and conflict resolution.
