Over het event
Reconnect with the University of Groningen community at the Alumni & Networking Event on 31 October 2025 in Rome! Hosted at the Royal Netherlands Institute (KNIR), this evening brings together alumni, partners, and friends to exchange ideas, celebrate shared memories, and explore new opportunities.
The evening will be centered around the theme Secrets of an Ancient Cemetery. Rector Magnificus Prof. Jacquelien Scherpen will be attending, and give a speech on the state of the university of Groningen and international higher education, as well as introduce the keynote speakers. Our keynote speaker Prof. Peter Attema will address the challenges involved with the major excavation of the ancient Latin settlement Crustumerium. A response to this lecture by Prof. Paolo Carafa will be the starting point for an open discussion on archaeology, heritage, and international education. The evening concludes with a networking reception over drinks and a buffet dinner—an inspiring setting to excavate old university bonds, and forge new ones.
The number of tickets is limited. Please secure your place by registering by 10 October to get your ticket >>
